A few miles downstream of Dougherty the river grows tired of paralleling the granite ridge and makes a sharp turn to the south, cutting through it for a mile and a half. Railroad tracks and a quarry border river left, the speed picks up and the river makes a sharp right turn. Constant whitewater for 1/2 mile greets paddlers. The river drops over 4 major ledges with big sticky holes. As the river is over 200 ft. wide a swim at the top would be very long. First are saturday's pics @ 2400 cfs.
