Ouachita River at Rockport
These photos were taken by Kathy Miller,(river rat's old lady) on Saturday September 16, 2000 during the Arkansas Canoe Club Rendezvous. The annual gathering of the clan is an event not to be missed. The rendezvous is on Lake Catherine which is below Lake Hamilton which is below Lake Ouachita on the Ouachita River. Rockport rapid is several miles below Lake Catherine, just upstream from Interstate 30. The rapid is class II but at least 400' wide and offers several playspots. The level is 4300 cfs. The summer release schedule is very dependable and the rapid is a favorite summer destination for playboaters from Arkansas and elsewhere.
