Little Missouri River

The Little Missouri is one of the true whitewater jewels of the Ouachita Mountain range. The river drops 25 ft per mile for most of the 8.5 mile run from Albert Pike campground to Hwy 84 near Langley. The best part is that this class III stretch runs between 1200 ft high hogback ridges, providing the most scenic run in all of the Ouachitas.

These pictures are from Memorial Day weekend, 5/28/2000. They feature the river as well as Kathy Miller, Shelby Shelton, some guy named Ed and myself. The level was 20" on the painted gage or 5.2 ft on the web gage, a moderate level. 4.5 ft is low and  above 6 ft is high and exceeding the listed class levels.
